Curious what folks do here. I've been buying bottles of Schweppes soda, but being a semi-retired home-brewer, I have a CO2 tank and a 'Carbonator' PET bottle to ball-lock Corny fitting adapter, so there has to be easier/cheaper options. I am interesting in a soda siphon, but am not really into the disposable cartridge thing. I noticed that Teardrop has a couple of the iSi siphons last night. Are y'all buying the cartridges or did you find a bulk solution? Some guy made his own bulk-cartridge adapter by drilling a hole in a spent cartridge and brazing in some copper tube, but I use so little soda that maybe the chargers wouldn't be that big a deal. Is anybody adding salt or bicarb to our very soft Portland water to make their own soda? How much? I made some tonight with straight water and it seemed fine with scotch.

I use a fairly run of the mill soda siphon (http://www.kegworks.com/product.php?productid=19673) which uses disposable cartridges. Quick, easy, and straight-forward to use.

    Here is an interesting option:

The description makes it sound like it is using a larger CO2 canister than those little disposable jobbies. Sounds like it might be more possible to retrofit this with a high-pressure coupler to hook up to an external tank.

But if you really want a home dispenser, then here is an option:

    or

...and there are various others along this line as well.

But for the price, I think the simple soda siphon works quite well :->
