Again, the OBG tastes this 3/2 (unfortunately, the aquavit didn't survive Fedex's brutal handling. I saw the packaging, no way it should have ever broken.)

I really liked this gin yesterday. Nice piney notes, very crisp on the palate. I actually brought some home and mixed it with tonic and it was the perfect G&T. This would be great though on its own.

Thanks for your comments on this one too, Lance.  In contrast to our No. 6, this gin is intended to be a more classic/traditional flavor profile.  We actually created No. 11 in response to feedback we got from old-school gin drinkers (think Beefeaters, Bombay Regular, and some Tanqueray regular drinkers) in relation to No. 6, mostly that they did not care for the floral notes, and would prefer more juniper and a bit less spice.  We were just playing around with it, and didn't really intend to do anything with it other than see how it was different.  No. 11 is only sold on-premise here in Illinois, and we bottled it at the request of a beverage guru here who uses both our gins on his menus.

No. 11 has a few less botanicals, definitely no floral, and quite a bit more juniper.  No. 6 was named as such because it was the sixth recipe in a long series of initial recipes that we played with, and it was always the favorite in our blind tastings.  In contrast, No. 11 goes to 11 on the juniper.

Gin drinkers are definitely picky about what they like and why.

I really liked the juniper forward element of this gin.  It was big and bold, but I really felt it maintained a nice feminine quality.  As you know, Lance, I've been a big fan of the #6 for a while now and I think it's a great example of the "new style" approach to gin.  Heavier on the spice botanicals, less reliance on juniper.  Overall I think they're a great tandem.  I really wish we could have tried the aquavit.  I think it's a vastly under represented spirit in the US and I love that some of these smaller distillers are giving it a shot.

I know, I could have killed FedEx when I saw that beautiful bottle of aquavit with the bottom broken out.

I have to say, I can't decide whether I prefer the #6 or the #11, they are both great and I think I'd choose either depending upon my mood. Both are just excellent, well made gins.

Tasted the #11 last night again. It just keeps growing on me. Its definitely got that juniper bite, but in a good way.
