We're staying at the Ace on Sunday night, and I've already been planning on it being my morning café au lait.

I have a cup of Clover about twice a week from the Ace Stumptown, and I've tried a lot of the beans but my favorite has to be the Tega and Tula.  It's got a much cleaner taste throughout the palate, and I like how it continues to have an interesting flavor profile as the drink cools down.  It's almondy and lemony, and while I'm not able to pick out strawberries in its nose or flavor, there's certainly a fruity aspect to it beyond the citrus that I can't quite pin.

I've been wanting to try this since Blue Bottle opened, but word on the street is that wait times are around 45 mins. right now which fall just a wee bit outside of the time I'm willing to hang about for coffee. I'd love to hear more for those who've had it (or have it soon) I'd love to if it's worth biting the bullet and waiting the wait.

Let's not overstate what it is: the Clover produces a great cup of brewed coffee, and it's eye-opening, but it's only life changing if you want it to be.

A lot of coffee-geeks on other message boards still prefer their home solution: an Aeropress

For me, I'm the type of guy that wants to engage in that discussion, so while it might not be life-changing for some, it was for me because it opened up a new world of what coffee could be. But you can't base the experience on just a single cup. Once you've had one brew out of the Clover, you have to go back and try other brews, and at other coffee shops serving different beans. It's not a product, it's a technique.

"It's not a product, it's a technique." true in so many ways about so many things.

It really is though. I found the $6 cup I purchased to have very lemony overtones, and it seemed to be missing some of the darker notes that make imho a good cup of coffee enjoyable. That said, I'm glad I tasted coffee from the Clover. Its another facet of a particular bean/roast.
